Just re-read that they've been together for 8 months, missed that the first time around...

Separating them would probably be unproductive.
I would put up a separate small roost for the newer birds.
Molting can make then crabby and pecking order can shift.
Lack of space and maybe ventilation as winter sets in could be part of the problem too.
