Its a similar problem to cannabis growers who grow from seed. Cannabis has male and female plants. The males cause seeds and don’t make much good medicine. So the industry leaders (stoner criminals), figured out a few viable ways to make all female seeds. It was/is a game changer in that industry. If there is enough cost associated with the males being culled then the industry will find a way eventually.
