Seriously Angry warning for pic

The last two days some wild animal has been slaughtering my remaining chickens and roos. I've been forced to ask a neighbor to shelter my remaining birds while I figure out what to do.

I've included a pic of my roo Acorn after his demise. Or what's left of him. I need help identifying the critter that did this. Please help.

I have lost three hens and two of my bantam roos. One is pending at the vet for a head injury from the same attack.

My chickens are locked up at night. So whatever did this went through a double fence of chain link/chicken wire and wood fencing. The doors were busted inwards.

Please help.

It might help to know the general area where you live at, so that it could be figured out what type of predator's are in that area.

South East New mexico. Desert area. Lots of cactus, mesquite, and clay dirt. Its a really rural area about 15 miles from town.

Is that a crop left? This year we lost a lot of chicks to the same thing by the looks of what it left behind! We had over 40 chicks to start with, every morning if would come and kill a LOT of my little chicks. We decided to put up a trap where we thought it was getting in and we caught it the next morning! It turned out to be a skunk! I did a count of chicks I had left and I had 20 something. Started out with 40 something and ended with 20 or less (I think).

That’s a gizzard. You might have a coyote. There is not much left. You probably need fence buried and over, thick. Once they know there is easy food they keep coming back like stray cats.

It was not a coyote. They are I a really small coop “the chick coop”. And after we got rid of that skunk they were all safe!

My neighbors say we had an escalation of skunks breeding out here. I can also consider ground squirrels, a bop, or a cat of some sort. I'm planning to set a live trap and then contact the appropriate service to remove the animal once dealt with. It could be a dog or a dumped cat too. That's a common occurrence. I'm hedging to skunks.
