The end is near!! I've finally gotten word that my much anticipated money is soon on its way!!! So I need to start getting plans made for some chicken tractors.

Most of my birds are bantams, with the exception of some lakenvelders, OEG, phoenix, and ameraucanas. So we'll worry about the bantams first

I currently have 3 tractors. They are each 3' wide x 8' long x 3' high. None of them have coops, and 2 of them are divided in half. The only one that houses birds completely (birds never free range) is the one that isn't divided, and it has 3 bantam cochins, and 1 chick.

I really don't like the way these tractors are set-up. They have no coop, they do have a roost though. They have heavy plastic covering them, which has mostly fallen apart, and will need to be replaced. I'm thinking of using 2 of them for my lakenvelders and ameraucanas, the OEG and phoenix will remain free rangers.

So first question is Is a 3' x 8' x 3' tractor big enough for 3 LF birds??

I will make a coop for these, so this would be the run only....about 24 sq. ft., or 8 sq. ft. of ground space per bird.

2nd question is how big of a coop would I need for 3 LF birds in a chicken tractor?

Now onto the bantams

Mainly, I can get either 3' wire or 2' wire, and maybe 4', without having to drive 2-3 hours to get it. So I was thinking of making the run of the tractors 2' high, by 4' or 6' wide. The length would probably be 6' or 8', depending on what size lumber we've got laying around. So let's say they'll be 2' high by 4' wide by 6 feet long, for simplicity's sake.

Would this be enough room for 3 bantams?
Is 2' high okay, or should it be higher? (remember this is for bantams)
How big of a coop would 3 bantams need for a tractor?

I've asked similar questions before, with not much help.

I really like tractors, and am going to have detachable coops on them for safety. Daytime predators are not a problem unless the birds are free ranging.

Thanks for any help you can offer
