Buck Creek Chickens-Archie is gorgeous! How old is he? I have several roo's that are 2 and a half mos old. I think they are quite handsome, but they can't compare to your Archie!
I absolutely love the serama breed. My birds are inside birds at the moment, because they were hatched the beginning of December and it is too cold outside for them.
They are so delightful! They talk and chatter all the time. When we go to bed they will call for us-sometimes it sounds like the wild kingdom around here!
They cockerels just began to crow the past few weeks. They sounded like rusty hinges at first, but now do admirably.
We had little success in hatching serama's at first, but finally "cracked the code" by upping the humidity to a ridiculous level for the entire incubation and then even higher for the hatch.
We live in an extremely arid climate, though. I hatched 9 out of 12 eggs from my last shipped eggs! I was really happy!
Here are some of our birds....remember we are not official breeders and do not show them or anything like that. We raise strictly pets right now.
I just love the breed! This little roo is Reepicheep:
This is "Vulture" (these are the names you get when you let your 9 and 11 year old boys name them!):
These are our last bunch o' babies:
I haven't found serama to be any harder than any other chicks to raise.
