Do you think it would fit a Scottish Deerhound? They have a very large chest. I would hate to get it and then find it would not fit.

You can go weight your dog. These are very accurate for weight. Now you can alter the straps easily. Then I just take a lighter and burn the strap to melt it so it doesn't fray. I would say it should fit, but I can give measurements. Also if you don't want to mess with altering to fit you can always go to a dry cleaner who does alterations. I just took one of Milo's vests in so they could put his CGC patch on one of his vests. I just didn't want to deal with doing a patch myself

Too many pricks of my fingers ..

The thing is the vest is both SD & Therapy. Because for access it MUST say Service dog for some places. And since my dogs is both hehe. Now if I could get one that says please don't run my dog over with your cart. Grrrr...

The raspberry field is a great vest company. I have bought all of my SD vests from them up until now.

The only thing that I want to point out here is the drastic difference between a Service Dog and a Therapy Dog. A Service Dog is a dog who mitigates the disability of it's handler with trained tasks. A Therapy Dog is a very well behaved dog who visits with the sick and elderly at hospitals and nursing homes, etc.
HUGE difference. There is no need for a Therapy Dog to be out in a public place like a grocery store in MOST cases and you wouldn't want people petting your Service Dog as this would distract him or her from working.
If by some chance I had a dog who did both jobs I would be sure to have two different vests, one for each thing. A Service Dog is NOT a Therapy Dog and Vicey Versey.... Throwing a Service Dog patch onto a Therapy Dog just to be able to birng them into a public place is illegal and commiting fraud. Therapy Dog are allowed into Hospitals and Nursing Homes without having to be called Service Dogs.

I realize the OP had a dog that did both jobs, but I wanted to be sure to point out to anyone interested in this vest that it is confusing to read and if I were to buy it I would remove either the SD patches or the Therapy Dog patches.

A SD can be BOTH. As I said before if the laws are not the same for the two unless you have a dog that does both. I keep patches on several vests. But even with my DO NOT PET PATCH I stil let people pet my dog in public if they ask. I yell at them when they don't ask because I have about fallen from someone distracting my dog.

Reason the vest is how it is is because my dog does both.
I have found I need to be very clear because of access issues.

Actually, I realized that after I looked at it more closely. My dog is being trained to be an assistance dog, mobility assistance specifically. She is not and probably never will be a therapy dog.

And you are absolutely correct of course. There is a big difference.

If I put all the patches I needed on my dog , omg. My dog is also a medical alert however to avoid really dumb questions I keep that off the vest. I already get some pretty dumb questions. I loved the guy at the drive thru looks at my dog and then goes " Humm I guess you aren't blind ?

Or the most common " oh are you training that dog ? "

I just hate when people want your whole health history along with what your dog does. I know places aren't allowed to ask what my dog does , but they do. I think it's funny the look on their face when he shows them what he does.

One thing I have found is that dogs like a purpose. Milo loves to work. But I can't tell you how many people say being a SD is cruel. Clearly they have no idea how well maintained these animals are.

Oh wanna add. Don't be so sure your dog won't end up doing Therapy

Do you have kids ? Taking your dog into schools and letting the kids read to them has some major postive results. Dogs don't judge and the kids that have trouble reading open up and do really well just sitting with the dog and reading. I am hoping more schools start using the dogs.

Oh yes also as above post says, in order to be a service dog you need to be disable. My doctor signed off on my dog. Although it is not required I wanted to have vaild proof as my disabilty is not visable. I had my dogs trainer AND doctor sign off that I use a SD.
Nothing makes me more mad then people just bringing their dogs in places and letting their dog jump all over my dog

Sometimes I swear Milo rolls his eyes at some people.

I didn't mean it to come off that I was going after you, if it did, I apologize.
I wanted to point out to anyone looking to buy it that in most cases having both things on there is contradictory in some ways and that the patches are removable so they can change it up
