wow. thats alot of colors. i have duckies hatching the 26th. cant wait. these are my first duckies. 10 out of 12 have veins already, two are showing the red ring of death. few more days and they got to go.

Day 14 update!

Home Depot carries 'Tactical' LED flashlights (100+ Lumens) (~24$), which made a world of difference in tonight's candling. I could see through the Marans eggs clear as if they were white shelled!

Humidity was kept in the mid-40% range for these last 4 days, whereas for days 1-10 it had been 35%. My goal is for the eggs to lose approximately 12-14% of their weight by day 18.

Obviously some eggs turned out to be infertile, but it's not the end of the world. Got a blood ring that was tossed and some others that I'm keeping a close eye on.

i have ten out of twelve duck eggs doing great. i can see the duckies moving around in the eggs. this is the first time i have been able to see something moving in a egg. chicken eggs were always to dark to see through. due date next fri. 26th

I have chickens hatching on the same day. I gotta say though, you are REALLY organized! I could learn a thing or two from what you've posted here. Maybe my next batch I'll plan carefully and be as organized as you.

We are on day 14 and I totally saw baby chicks moving in mine, I saw the PROFILE of a chick (beak and all) and one was ROCKING! Go figure! I started out with 38 and am down to 34 (one was infertile, one due to BAD SMELL, and two didn't progress).

Seeing them move is so great isn't it? I think my light was too bright for mine - when I'd find them, it seemed like they shied away almost! LED so it wasn't warm.

Hahaha you don't want to see the giant Excel I've got. EVERYTHING is charted down to how much feed 'goes' into each egg being sold, and the opportunity cost if I'd purchased eggs from the store for eating. It's pretty excessive.
