Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

Welcome to the merry hatch-a long! I still have 14 under the broody {EE's &BCM} I gave up tring to candle them. The eggs are dark and the broody just didn't like it. So I will just wait till hatch day and what ever isn't hatched by day 2 will be removed. I'm waiting to hear from the guy who has my 46 other eggs. So he can tell me how many are alive this week. I don't have an incubator so I hired one lol. Mine are set to hatch on sunday. He keeps a webcam up so you can watch along. Very cool. http://cmfarm.us/cam_2.html

Well, I promised I'd let you know how the Day 7 candling went on my 5 EE eggs. I kept trying to get to it, but was too busy until after Hawaii 5-O...LOL! Last time I looked (on Day 4) I saw 5 nice big spider veins! Last night, again, I saw very strong veining around the egg and saw floating movements too IN ALL 5

!! The only difference with the EE I've noticed is that it is already so dark inside that I really couldn't see the "eyeball" float around, but I know I saw good veins and movement of "something" inside. (And no, WWC, they were NOT alien chicks like you had in your incubator!)

Since the candling session was going so good I wanted to look into some of the Silkie eggs which were only on Day 3.

I only candled 10 eggs (out of the 24 silkie eggs) before getting totally discouraged. I only saw a tiny little spider in 1 egg out of ten....ONE and the rest looked clear! Another egg had to be thrown out because it had several cracks all over it that I hadn't noticed. I'm really hoping they were just too undeveloped to see yet, and not infertile.

I will be pretty upset. I think I'll check some of them tonight (toward the end of Day 4) and check the first ones again in a couple of days.

Oh, my new incubator is scheduled to arrive today!

I checked the tracking number last night and it arrived in Sacramento and 10:50PM.

Keep us posted on the geese. (There is also a goose hatch thread called here we go again)
Thanks.. I will gO check out that thread. My gesse are not looking to good but will give them longer before I pull them. I see no movement at all after two weeks. Put in six more two days ago. Hope they do better

Three for me....I'm so excited!!!! I am going to hatch some myself and give some to broodies that don't have eggs.

I still have 5, but I have ducklings to keep me busy until then. I can't wait to have some baby chickies though.

I have al EE (cause my roo is EE), and some should be NN (naked neck)!!

I love nn! I want to get showgirls some day and have some showgirl sizzles.

Surely not.....that would just be awful. But you only candled 10 so maybe the others are developing. I think the silkies can be a little difficult to breed also if you don't trim the cushions on the girls. You have to cut all that fluff off below the vent, or at least that is what I was shown. I didn't get any fertile eggs out of my darker gray partridge girl and I saw my boy doing his job. He's one frisky fellar!!!!
Are you going to look in the others tonight? Keep us posted. I will be anxiously awaiting your results.
All of my eggs are in route as of today!!!!!!!!! I only have four Ameraucan chicks so I'm hoping I can at least hatch some of the eggs that are coming and get started with breeding pairs. I have my eyes open and am still actively hunting down others who have these.
Met someone on here who has a trio of faverolles....she wants me to come look at them

I have a very BAD feeling I would bring them home. I told myself it wouldn't be so bad though since the state tester will be coming soon and I won't be able to do this anymore because of the expense and hassle of having someone come to test the new things......it will probably turn out to be affordable and easy and I will keep on hunting down cute, feather footed creatures. I just really have a thing for that feature on a bird.
I can't remember, Cali Chick, what kind of incubator you bought. Please share again.....I'm so happy for you that it is arriving. Did it ship pretty fast? I would like to look up what you got as I would love to buy myself one. My husband wants to make me one, but I fear it is too far down on the list of projects around here

I'm hoping it was just too early to candle.

Another possibility is that the eggs I candled were from a pen where the rooster wasn't doing his job. (The eggs I candled were all marked C2. I didn't candle the C6 or C8 eggs yet.) I think I should wait until Day 5 or even Day 7 to make sure I'm not seeing some growth before giving up on any. The "clears" will be very obvious by then in comparison to the ones that are developing. I HOPE SOME ARE DEVELOPING! The breeder said she was having "high fertility" in these 3 pens.

I ordered a Hova Bator. I got one with circulating air and egg racks so I can be away from home and not worry about the different temperature levels (like my still air) or turning the eggs.

Last check, it was on the truck for delivery!

I'll keep you posted on the silkie eggs and my incubator arrival. (Knowing me, I'll probably even post a picture of it.)
