I have a chick that has a slipped tendon. I've been trying to fix it by splinting it and lining the tendon back up. Everytime I line the tendon back up and bandage it really quick (as quick as you can w/ 2 kids & a wiggly chick), the tendon keeps popping back out. We've tried the chick chair but she struggles so hard to get out that it stresses her worse. The skin is broken on the joint where she was using that to bare wait and I'm assuming the others were picking on her. I keep neosporine in the bandage. It's pittiful. When we don't mess with her, she hobbles with her make shift cast over to the food and water and make the sweetest purring sounds. But when we mess with her, I can tell it hurts. I've never culled any of my babies not even the blind, crooked toed one that uses her wings for balance. I just can't do it. I'm going to keep her bandaged for a couple of days. I'll have to change it offen since the skin is broken and it needs treatment. Any suggestions. I don't want to cull, but that may have to be considered.

I lost a chick today too. He's been unable to balance himself and this morning when I checked them, I just knew he wasn't going to make it. Sure enough, he was stuff and dead when I found him a few hours later

I'm soooooo sorry.

I have a sweet little chick that has a slipped tendon. It was hopping on the joint when I noticed and the skin is broken and bone is showing. I'm bandaging so the joint is immobile but in the natural bend. I'm also using Neosporine and peroxide during daily bandage changes. He is the sweetest thing. When I put it back under the light, after it gets over the trauma, it just purrs at the other chick in there with it. I wish I could save it. I know it's just a matter of time.
