Fingers crossed this year for different colors. I started 3 years ago with 18 keets 5 different colors. At one year I had buff, lavender, and one pearl. So all my dominant male was a pearl that was partially pied (white wing feathers) and the 3 females left were all lavender. I had 10 other males! So all my keets last year were pearl or pearl with white wings feathers. This year I have 8 females that are all from last year and mating with pearl/lavender crosses or 2 females that are with my remaining buff male. So I'm excited to see what hatches this year. I haven't found the nest yet with my buff male and his mates. Actually I did find the first one but after a week a predator got the 3 eggs I left in there and they moved it and I haven't found their new one. I'll have to follow them this weekend and see.

My eggs look different this year. Last year they all were speckled like this year I have solid cream ones and speckled ones. Is this normal? Any guesses to what color keets I'll get this year?

I am! My lockdown date is April 28. These are shipped eggs. I'm trying to add to my colors. I'll set more of my own late next week after egg orders are filled. I have a keet order next in line.

I would like some pieds if anybody is selling them.

Startingover.....I have had a few odd speckled or swirly colored eggs. It seems the color rubs off if they get damp. I think they're from my year old. The older birds eggs don't do that. I'm guessing it's just the egg factory getting everything figured out.

I threw mine in the bator at about 10:00 last night (4/15/10). There are 18 guinea eggs. So I'm expecting keets on May 6th........I think.
Here goes my first hatch, and it's in a homemade bator.

Keepin em crossed

Earlier this spring I found a nest my guineas had hidden and threw the eggs in the bator. I only have four left was a bout to give up, but yesterday all four pipped! I now have one guinea zooming around the bator and another starting to zip out!
