i candled last night and of 11 silver penciled PRs, five had veining - with a two or three maybes. i also have 11 marans, but cannot see anything. they are too dark - - it's a wait and see with those little guys.

but there's development happening! yay!

i think i may be addicted to hatching. is there a support group? seriously.

Revised my candling light, and finally saw veins in the 4-5 I looked at.

Going to let them go to 10 days, get a brighter bulb, and pull out anything that looks like a problem, I found one that was cracked and weeping, so down to 13

I candled 3 of mine last night, Day 5, with pretty good light. I could see through my fingers really well with it. Couldn't find any veins in the eggs, but did see big dark blobs in them. They definitely look different from when I candled them before incubating. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing though...

finally got the broody to sit in her own private pen on the 17th and am back

I had the big dark blobs, once I improved my light source from the flashlight, I could see the veins, so I'm going with dark blobs are good
