Well here goes just got done setting up for my first incubator hatch. I am using the Brinsea ECO octagon. I set 6 silver laced Wyandottes, 6 gold laced Wyandottes, 11 Speckled Sussex, and last but not least 1 SS/RIR mutt. I am just getting back into chickens after not having any for 15 years. I always had a willing Broody to do the work for me so this incubation game is all new to me. Thanks to this sight I have been able to get all kinds of great advice from what incubator to get to how to use it. thanks to all and good luck to everyone that is hatching.

Yep....that is Oh, My Kitty, My Cat....she is an outstanding rescue cat....she is pretty interested in the new chicks since they are in the big bathroom....lol. But if I look at her looking at the chicks she turns tail and runs.

Here is a chick pic! Sweet Harry's baby....LF cochin

You got your chochins! I'm so happy for you!

Hey, how in the world, could I forget, to say, that I also set my Nankin eggs today. They came pkged so well..none broken...so tiny!

I am so hoping these work, because there really aren't that many, but have found that they are making a comeback because folks are taking notice...of how cute they are!! And of course, they want to keep the breed going.

So, Nankins this morning...Ameraucanas set tonight...how is the hatch going to be I wonder..set same day, but around 12 hrs. apart. hmmm...

I set 25 eggs in the brinsea today. I am a first time chick hatcher. I have done reptiles before. (I have done loads of reading, and no offense... chickens are way easier... shorter, drier, and hard shelled.) This will be my first hatch

I am really excited. I set, 6 blue ameraucanas, 6 lavender orps, 2 barnvelders, 2 BCM, 9 LS eggs. Some people tried to convince me to hatch cheaper eggs the first time around. However, after talking to my DH... if I do hatch, what am I going to do with chicks I really don't want or like? Go big or go home is what I say! the mixes and the LS were all bought at BYC auction. Great people! I am soooo... excited! I sold my LG still air for this new Brinsea and boy does it hold well! Temp and humidity!

I am hoping to have one. I have a RIR that was showing some signs of going broody, but we did a rooster change and made a couple of design changes to the run and I think that disturbed the process.
