It's all trail and error. You remind me of me when I first started hatching. If you have a fan in the bator that will make a big difference. Let me ask you this what is your humidity?

i'm going with lower humidity this time. last time i had problems with chicks being sticky so i thought i would try a different way this time. it has been about 25-35%. during lock down i will raise it. this is only my second hatch so i guess i'm still trying to figure out what works but i'm much more relaxed this time. i got my new incubator and it has a fan. i have the temps steady at 99.5. should i move these eggs to the new one and just have a staggered hatch with the new eggs coming and do the lock down and hatch in the hovabator? or just leave them where they are and just put the new eggs in the new incubator?

I would use the one with fan as the hatcher until you get a fan for the other. The fan makes the biggest difference during lockdown. in your other bator do you have your vent plugs in or out. They need to be in. I run my humidity at 30%-40% days 1-18 and then up it to 70%-75% in lockdown. I hope this helps.

the vent plugs are out this time. had them in last time. guess i'll put them in now. thanks for all the advice. i really appreciate it.

Just make sure now that you are putting them back in the temp may go up so watch it.

the old one is a hovabator still air that hubby is planning on adding a fan to and the new one is poozoo? little bigger and has a fan. also a better window on top.
