Well I have to admit I am a little slow sometimes. I got thinking about why my maglite led that worked great early on did not work so well yesterday and remembered my daughters played with the flashlight and had left it on for a couple hours. I switched the battery's out and much to my chagrin it worked much better!! I can say with much more certainity that out of 11 speck. sussex I have 8 that are developing 2 still questionable but I am leaning towards good and one that is clear, the mutt RIR/SS is definately clear, 5 of the 6 GL Wyandottes are good, and all 6 of the SL wyandottes are good. Oh and Delmar I too noticed an increase in temp in my incubator, mine was holding steady at 99.6 and bumped up to 100.4 I wonder if it is that the developing embryos are starting to create some heat of there own?? I turned my brinsea down just a touch and it is back to 99.7 so I am leaving it alone. So far I am very happy with this hatch hope everyone else is doing well and have a great Easter!!

Happy Easter everyone.

I got myself an Easter chick...one that I tossed in from an Australorp that I had gotten and had been with a roo.. and never guessed it would hatch right on the day it was supped to..today! An Australorp mom..pure...dad..? This baby has 5 toes. Fav..in there somewhere? I have two more in that I gathered just for a few days. Another has pipped. These are not the ones that I had figured for this hatch along, but I'm not complaining.

My orthers are coming along nicely.

Just candled everything. I started with 38 from 3 different shipments. I have a total of 25 still doing great and three that are questionable. I lost the most Lavendars - only 1 out of 5 left. 4 blood rings, 2 infertile, 2 cracks, 2 air sacs bad with swishy inside. I am excited about still having so many, but am not holding my breath because I know I will lose a few more. This is my first attempt at shipped eggs. My humidity is at 31% is that OK? I have not added any water yet. Air sacs seem to be good. Thanks for everyone's help!

I started with 31 eggs. all the white japs were infertile pulled them out.
I had one blood ring, one cracked egg, and one stinker.
I am down to 18 eggs 2 btb and 16 mottled. hoping to get some out of this.
japs have a lethal dwarf gene where some wont make it to hatch day.... so its a waiting game.
my daughter is excited... though thinks when i candle them i am invading there privacy.
she is 13. but she now wants every color of jap possible... hehe so she wants to hatch more eggs.
I have to look up some peeps now for when the bator is empty, so i can fill it back up.

oh we figured the fertility on the mottled to be 88% - i figured the 2 of the bad ones in cause i forgot to mark it. if the bad ones were whites then i would have a better rate on the mottled. but i collected over 2 weeks. so not bad i think.

QUESTION -------
It is getting warmer in my office, as it gets warmer outside, and my incubator temp goes up 4 or 5 tenths of a degree. What is going on? I thought a thermostat was a thermostat. Is this a problem? Megan
Anyone know how to set up a webcam inside an incubator? wouldnt that be fun?
