Sweeeeet about the chick! And I understand the cat thing.....I keep my bathroom door tied off with a rope! It does not latch good. Everybody laughs at that then opens to door and it is an chicken nursery.
Am at 32 out of 40.
I think two are shrinkwrapped. The humidity dropped. Had not dropped the whole time.....picked at the shell some and put in a wet paper towel around the egg so the chick would get some good moisture....hoping they make it. Still have the last hatched in there and two more zipped. Took two eggs not pipped to candle them and one is still in there moving....the other I saw no movement. Put them back in.....neither had a pip on them. So eight left to hatch or not. At this point everyone ought to go ahead and come on out!
Well I think the hatching is finished. Results are 6 for 6 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 3 for 6 Gold Laced Wyandottes, 5 for 11 Speck. sussex. 0 for 1 mixed egg. Not to bad for my first hatch I set 18 into lockdown as I had 6 that never developed, the 4 remaining lok like they where late quitters not realy sure what went wrong with them. I will give them a couple more days to be sure they are not just late but I candled them tonight and I could see no movement at all. I cant help but be a little disappointed in losing the 4 so late. The last two to hatch both where very sticky and had a dificult time getting out the last one I had to help. It seems to be doing pretty good but it took it a couple hours to start moving around he was exhausted. Glad to here all the succes stories and sorry to those that have had problems.
Cynthia12......oh, how sweet....and how did you get them to hold still for those pictures??? I will see tomorrow if I can get better pictures of mine!
STILL getting hatched chicks! Two were a little shrinkwrapped....well one was really shrinkwrapped. The one I just made sure there was plenty of air space for breathing and put a wet paper towel around the back of the egg. The other one I am not sure will make it.
So, five eggs left in the incubator. Three pipped. The other two do not have pips but I candled them just now and one is moving and the other I could not see movement. Put them both back in. How excited I am over this!
Will post a couple of pictures in a few minutes if I can get them to upload....tried a while ago and could not.
