I'm setting my very first egg in my homemade incubator tonight!

I only got one egg today but oh well. I'm setting it at 10!

What 1 egg, no one ever sets just 1 egg. Run to the neighbors or somebody to get that bator full. Just think, when that chick hatches it will be so lonely. Good luck with the egg.

I'd hold off a bit. You can store the eggs for a week or so with no problems and that way you're less likely to have a lonely only chick. It's exciting stuff, but I really think you'll be happier with the whole experience if you wait and set 5-6 eggs for you're first try--that way the chicks will have buddies and you're less likely to wait three weeks and have your only egg be a dud.
