I plan to be setting 12 Ameraucana eggs on Sunday. I am picking the eggs up from a local breeder, then I will be putting them in with the 7 shipped eggs I set a week ago.

I hope, I hope, I hope to finally have a good hatch, since these eggs won't be shipped. Best of luck with yours.

What are you setting?

I probably will be as well if my 2nd batch of eggs arrives in the next day or so. I will have 10 Ameraucana and 10 or so Ancona eggs. Might throw in a couple from my hens as well.

Holy cow! I did not realize the 20th is the first day of spring! Maybe it's a good sign.

I am planning to set about 50 eggs (give or take) on Sunday. This will be the first time to use my new GQF incubator. I am going to set standard Cochins (I think they are so pretty!), Blue and Blue Splash Marans and some Easter Eggers. I bought most of the eggs on Ebay, and I am picking up the EEs in the back yard.
I am very excited and am hoping for a great hatch!

It's fun to share the experience ---------------->

Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be but so shocked, I set 46 last time (I purchased eggs off ebay and got tons of extras). I got so few chicks out of that batch that it's easy to forget.

I am really excited though because this time mine won't be shipped eggs. I can't wait until I have hens old enough to lay so that I can hatch my own eggs out! Aah, the dream. Good luck on your hatches everyone. I hope a few more people chime in, the more the merrier.

I hope to get my FIRST eggs ever in tomorrow - trying to calibrate the temp in the bator now. I am barely sleeping! This is such an obsession!

Well, the eggs are in the 'bator!

I set 13 nice new eggs at 5:30 pm, I drove an 1 1/2 hours one way to get them. I am really excited to have eggs that haven't been shipped

. I received an extra Wheaton Ameraucana egg for a total of seven, and 6 Black Ameraucana eggs. I candled them all and found tiny new air cells about the size of a dime. AAhh!

Fresh eggs that haven't been scrambled by the PO.

Time is going to go sooo sloow the next 3 weeks. You all have to distract me, when will people check back in with candling updates? Can't wait to hear any news.

I put mine in on the 19th - but I'm going to hang out with you guys anyway!

14 Black Copper Maran's - we will see if any hatch - shipped half way across the country.

1 egg was cracked - so I waxed it. For what they cost - I might as well give it a try.

This will be my 3rd ever hatch in my home made incubator.

The first two hatches were learning experiences - but I have several chicks from them. 13 black australorps ( I think 7 are hens!!) and only 1 wellsummer (totally my fault) but she is a hen too.

The second attempt was just my goofy mixed up yard birds. Black silkie rooster, aracauna & buff orp hens. Got 6 out of 9 that went into lock down. 3 never pipped.

This time - I have the machine running right & should have no surprises.

I also found this little flashlight that is like a freaking x-ray machine on eggs. I'm hoping it will be able to see into the maran eggs. They are the darkest I've tried so far.
