Hi! I am new to this forum, have been reading for a few weeks. Just set my 1st batch of eggs, 12 silkie and 12 FBCM on Thursday(21st) night. Temp has been 98-100.4 and humidity is at 52%, very humid here in Maine. Very excited to see what happens!

Howdy, Another Mainer, yippee!! What part are Maine are your from? I'm in the mid-coast area, Between Belfast and Bangor. And yes it has been humid here.

. I candled all the eggs tonight. I couldn't wait till tomorrow. Out of my 12 americauna eggs that I bought on ebay, 5 are definitely growing, They had lots of veins in them. The rest I left in the bator. Will check them again when I check the eggs next. Probably in 3 or 4 days. I will have to show my son the veining tomorrow. He'll be so excited.

Sweety13, I'll add you to our group list. You're #20 - lucky 20! Can you bring down your humidity a bit? I think that high humidity at early stage may be too much. Do you have vent plugs you could open? Or even raise the lid to your 'bator abit? That's just my concern. Others may think it's alright.
Kimbroe1981 sounds like your eggs made the trip in the mail ok. Yoohoo! I will be so happy to see that many eggs alive!
Annmarie the picture reference is just what I was looking for. Thanks!

i candeled..down 29 eggs. they were clear, blood rings, or scrambled.... i figured i would loose half from shipping so i got about 42 left. 2 more weeks!

ChicksnPR , were you ever able to get your humidity down to 50% or under? I live in South Florida which is also really humid. I tried everything. Nothing worked. I stayed at 73% for the entire first day. Then, I turned the air condition colder. Cold air holds less moisture. We usually have our air at 76 degrees. I lowered it to 72 degrees since the end of day 1, and my humidity has been between 39% - 50%. I do not have water in the incubator, because apparently it is so humid here I don't need it until lockdown.

xoxo Annmarie
