My daughter's 7th birthday is March 1st (Monday) Setting eggs in the bator on Saturday 2/7. Last year we got her 8 chicks, this year we will be setting 40? eggs (all EE's - blue/green) DH got me 2 used bators for Christmas. One has a turner the other dosen't, a friend just told me today that I can HAVE his "extra" turner! SO, that means that if I happen to collect enough for 2 Hovabators, I should have loads of fuzzy butts!

* Tomorrow (Mon. 2/1) - Sanitize bators with 1:4 bleach to hot water solution, set up, check temps and humidity

* Tuesday - Friday (2/2-2/6) ? AAARRRGGGHHH! wait....

needed a themometer/hygrometer - found one at Lowes - digital for $6.73!!!!

Join the fun! What are you hatching?

LOL!
I'm hatching for my daughter's birthday! We're expecting ducklings on the 18th or so. She'll be 5 on 2/20.
We are having a big party on the weekend, so hopefully, they'll all hatch before the 19th!
Good Luck!

If I set the eggs on Saturday 2/6 I am thinking they should begin hatching either Sat. 2/27 or Sun 2/28. How about a little birthday/hatch day party Sunday afternoon? Hopefully a couple chicks already hatched and a few to hatch. We could look for "Easter" party stuff - baby chick paperware, etc. Have a package of marshmallow Peeps as a goodie bag? Any other ideas? We do tend to have SMALL parties, maybe 4 or 5 extra kids. So, not too much commotion.

I'll be a couple of days behind you! My bator is warming up. Hygrometers are calibrated. Eggs should arrive on 2/8 and in the bator on 2/9. The eggs are coming from Chookschick (EE's and Buttercups)!

Great to see all of you hatching at the same time as us! A friend said that he happens to have a bunch of barnyard mix chickens and Roo's and he would appreciate it if we would hatch some out for their family. Ohh BoY! Need to get that other bater & turner cleaned up and grab another temp/hygro at Lowes. WOO HOO! Love that spring is coming -

Was just hanging out with our feathered buddies and their clucking, and cooing makes it all worth while.

IF the bator gets here and stabilizes ok, we will be setting eggs this weekend as well. Fingers crossed that the incubator arrives and the chickens don't cross their little hen legs and stop laying between now and the weekend.

Looks like we will be joining the rest of you setting on the 7th. The bator arrived yesterday and appears to be stabilizing well. It's our first hatch using a bator, so I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

My eggs arrived on Friday morning and my wife and daughter put them in the bator late Friday night. Unfortunately, I am out of town and will be back on Tuesday night. Saturday, then was day one, so I'm more than a few days behind everyone.

I candled or tried to candle my eggs last night, saw veins in three of them, but the rest were too dark to see anything, so I'm leaving them all in there and hoping for the best!!
