Setting Eggs On March 7, anyone else??

I set eggs on March 7th too. This will be my first hatch in 2 years. I'm so excited! No pips yet. It's driving me nuts!

Azhenhouse: no oblong egg died in lockdown.
Akpheng: Are those bantam cochins, some of them look just like my babies.
Congrats to Everyone..
I had 4/14 shipped bantam Cochins hatch, 1/3 Mille and 4 /13 of my sister in laws mixed chickens hatch but 1 died. My lockdown didn't go so well, 8 chicks died in lockdown. :( I used dry incubation and followed what it said??? But the babies I did end up with are the cutest little fuzzy butts I just hope 1 is a rooster for my girls. My ducks go into lockdown next week and so far out of my 22 eggs 20 have embryos in them, maybe Ill have better luck with my own eggs. I'll post pics of babies tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that the oblonged egg didn't make it, but relieved to know that I didn't destroy a viable egg.

Today is day 21 for us, and we have one more egg moving around. The one egg that has been moving for days still has not produced a chick. I sure hope it makes it. How long do they keep moving inside the shell before they give up?

Boy, I sure hope we get at least the four eggs to hatch. It has been a fun project for my son, these are his chicks, but to start with so many eggs and have so few chicks at the end is discouraging. That said, we would do it again.

Destin0709 ~ good luck with the ducks eggs. One more thing, I used the same method as you, and I was wondering if you think the dry incubation had anything to do with the low hatch rate. Did you post your thoughts on the dry incubation thread? If so, I will check over there. Thx

ashenhouse: Not completely sure on dry hatch or regular hatch yet. Last year was my 1st time hatching and I hatched different eggs. I know I lost 8/31 shipped call ducks (which they say are hard to hatch) alot died in lockdown, 2/7 chickens from my sister in law (2 died in lockdown others not fertile or quitters), 3/4 shipped cochins (one died right before lockdown and had a deformed beak when I looked at it), and I think 8/20 shipped guineas (alot of infertile, few quitters), with that being said I am confused myself.
So we will see how the dry hatch rate goes for my own eggs. I just wish I could find the calico, laced and mottled, buff columbian bantam cochins locally but I haven't had any luck. :(

As for how long for rocking I'm not sure but maybe someone will know.

I am going crazy too!

It's hard here with the windows open. I still have no pips and no rocking.

Crossing my fingers, toes, and eyeballs that everything is okay in there.

Gratz on the two pips Contrastphoto! Still nothing here. I'm going to have to leave the house and go somewhere in order to keep from looking at those eggs every 20 minutes. haha! This being my first hatch in 2 years, it's as exciting to me as the first time. haha! This is terrible!!!
