Setting Egg's on Oct 26th! Anybody else???

Well since my original post, Momma squished one egg. Messy clean up but then a few days later squished another. That was not real cool since it had a body by then ect. Anywho I am down to 5 and have two eggs that piped today. Nothing from the other three yet.

On Oct. 28 I set 16 of my own eggs plus one from a friend. I wanted to see how well my roo was taking care of his girls and I wanted my own easter eggers (my roo is a BW Ameraucana). Sunday is day 18.

Good luck to everyone else and Congrats to those who are already hatching!!

Good luck on the last 5 and congratulation on the other 11! I am down to 10 out of 19 eggs now. But they are all very lively and getting big in there.....

Sorry Jenna! How does a Momma squish them? Does she peck at them and break them first? I've never used a broody and am on my first incubator hatch so I have lots to learn.......

I think in her case she had visitors wanting to lay and egg where she was and so they pushed her around a bit and she accidentally stepped on them. Of course she got a little better about not letting anyone over with her but she is a first time Momma. HA!

Question: Am I crazy.

I am leaving tomorrow (Thursday) evening for a road trip for 4 days and will be back on Monday evening. My eggs are supposed to go into lock down on Friday morning and hatch on Monday. I was going to put them in lock down a little early before I left on Thursday evening. But.......... what if I took them with me on the road. I have a Brinsea 20 Advance that I could use a converter and plug into my cigarette lighter. Okay, I just tested it and it worked and temperature started to climb. My main concern is what about the movement of the truck and moving the incubator back and forth from the vehicle to the motel rooms etc....... Has anyone ever traveled with their eggs while they are in lock down? Are they better off just left at home with nobody to watch over for them.....?

I am going to post this as a new topic too so more people can see it!

Thanks for your input!
Belinda
