Working in a restaurant I have 100's of these that I brought home to use. I would maybe wrap the eggs in a paper towel or dinner napkin to keep them very secure in the holes and then tape shut. It's a deal! I may have white ameracaunas too. I think I have figured out a better way to pack the eggs. I am going to try to putting them in these containers and taping it together with painters tape. Then putting the eggs in the middle of the box surrounded by shredded paper or peanuts...whatever I have around the house. What do you think?![]()
YEAH!!!!!Not a bad idea...![]()
And guess what!!! I just saw two of my eggs moving!!! OMG I'm soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried no turning for 7 days on my first batch of shipped eggs - none hatchedI started letting the eggs sit for 12 hours to get to room temp before setting them in the incubator. Then when I place them in the incubator I don't turn them for 7 days. I let everything settle inside and start developing. I candle them before starting to turn and I can see the embryos and veining starting nicely. I know they are off to a good start and can get rid of the non developers/blood rings at the same time. They say that the first 5 days are the most crucial in development and I think by not turning them for that long you are giving them an extra chance at getting started.
Locking the kids down???? lol...I think you should be doing that...
Hey Rozannemc, where in Missouri are you? My dad's side is from Paris. We lived with on my grandparents farm until I was about 8 or so. My uncle still lives there. My aunt and uncle live in Centralia and I have a cousin in Columbia.Well cant win.... the northerners consider us (Missouri) south and in the south we are Northern Yankees. Go figure. I am in south eastern Mo so maybe southern already?..I know I know not by the REAL souths configurations. But here ppl fly both flags. OH! my Dads ppl are from NC and fought on the souths side...does that count? South by proxy?
I did a badddddd thing. I had contacted the lady I bought my 1st Araucana eggs from and said she had 8 fertile eggs that she didn't want to throw out or incubate and would I like to have them. Went this afternoon to get them and she had 12 gorgeous Marans eggs (BC Roo, Blue hens) she was selling. I came home with those too. So 20 more eggs went in just now.
Get well!!!OMG congratulations everyone!!!! I injured myself working on my property (but I'm fine, just tore a stomach muscle) so I've just been reading these posts from my phone in bed! I LOVE all of the beautiful little baby pictures!!! My boyfriend, although he should be use to me after all of these years, thinks I officially lost it. The doctors were worried that I had appendicitis so during all of their tests I told my bf that I couldn't go into surgery... I had to put my eggs in lockdown that night!!! He just looked at me and shook his head. But that seriously was all I could think about! But thankfully I got to come home and that wasn't the issueSo I have 9 of my 11 shipped Lavender Ameraucana eggs in lockdown now and they are due Thursday! I am slightly worried as after I added the water my temp has been staying around 98.3. It's been over 12 hours now and that is the temp it is automatically keeping (Hovabator). Humidity is about 65-70%. I hope that's okay! :/ BUT YAY TO EVERYONE AND THEIR BEAUTIFUL BABIES!!! I'm sooo nervous!!!![]()
