Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

We started a set in our new homemade incubator on Sept 25 but just saw this thread. We started 8 duck eggs and 6 chicken eggs and all are still growing on day 14.

We've done two batches before this in a different incubator and only hatched one chicken out of the lot and only had three chickens reach day 14 so we're stoked about this. Hope we hatch more than one this time.

Yep. one i know is a sportsman the other 2 im not sure which model they are. i like their setup bc they have a separate drawered hatcher
I just bought one of the older GQF 1502 models, no hatcher drawer on the bottom, but I can use the 2 coolerbators I made for that. That way I can do staggered hatches and not have to worry about lockdown in the GQF.

Welcome to our hatch thread. I just tried to add you to the main list on Post #1 and the edit button is gone. I think they take it away after a certain amount of time or maybe that post has reached it's limit in size. I have 2 homemade incubators that I am using at the moment. One has a hot water thermostat and the other a wafer. Both keep temp and humidity perfectly.

I haven't candled those yet, was planning on doing at day 7. Oh heck, I am getting old

I put it on the calendar next to the incubator...i'll check and let you know what day that is
Actually Day 7 is Wednesday night (tomorrow night) for us. With the holiday Monday I have my days all mixed up...lol.

Only two more days till lockdown...I hope this hatch is better than the last...these will be my very first eggs of my own to hatch so I'm excited....paints and buff silkies....yay...
Excited for you!!! I can't wait until mine start laying in a few months so I can start hatching my own chicks.

I have 11 this weekend and 10 next weekend....oh and I just went out and discovered my beautiful BCM who is molting looks like she is egg bound!!! So sad...I have just given her a warm bath for 30 mins and she is now resting in the garage with food, vitamin water and a heat lamp...I will bath her again later after she has rested...
Clucking thoughts for her please...

Awww poor baby. Hope she passes that egg soon.

Hi everyone. I've been super bad about checking in on this thread.

I'm still in the hatch-a-long (which feels more like a hatchathon to be honest...21 days feels like a year). Ours are due to hatch October 18th(ish). 8 eggs are good (long story, I thought some were bad that weren't). Every single one of my frizzle project eggs are doing wonderfully! One Silkie is still alive and doing well. I had 18 eggs from Gabbard Farms that I set. Unfortunately 5 of those were rotten (within 5 days of getting them, hmm) and I ended up throwing them away. 11 of them are clear. 1 I can't really tell and 1 is definitely forming.

Still praying everyone has some healthy chickies.
