This time around I am incubating at 99.5 f, trying to see for sure if this gives me more pullets or not, had a hatch last fall that was incubated at 99.5f instead of 100.5, that I got mostly pullets from, may have been a fluke, hatch day is 10/16/12 for me.

What incubator are you using?

It doesn't take much to get addicted. I started with only wanting a few chickens for our family eggs. Hatched my first batch and chicken math took over. So instead of having to build one coop and run I am up to four. I keep finding new breeds that I really like/want and have finally started adding them to my wish list rather than ordering the eggs.

well we wanted 6 chickens for eggs yeah right. now we have my silki, run, my the big chicken run and dont forget hubbies 4 turkeys(i had to let him get them he builds my coops
now a broody coop and a grow out coop hummm and where am I gonna put these babies in then incubator oh yeah I'm taking them to Roxannes house! LOL not good at chicken math never was good in math though

I'm trying to hatch my Black Jersey Giant X Deleware or Jersey giant X Buff Orpington!
Because i have Black Jersey Giant Rooster and Buff orpington also deleware hens.
Im trying to get my barred rock hen to gone to Broody.. its HARD.

Have you tried putting golf balls or plastic Easter eggs in the nesting box for her?

Well, our little experiment is underway and my backyard mutt eggs (well there's a couple of pure Prod Reds in there - LOL) are tracking their way to Lakebird, WA all the way from South Florida - Woooooohoooooo!!!!!

So far only 7 out of 18 hatching eggs have life in them.
