...I love this thread...So much going on!!! That orange silkie is just awesome. Sorry to hear that dent on the box though :(...love love love all the pics. ...Hubby and me had a discussion on the incubating of the eggs....talk about as the egg turn drama lol....Anyway, His new supervisor use to be in the production chick business and told the hubby that i need to turn the eggs every 2 hours the minute i put them in there. I told him that they are shipped eggs and they need to rest because of there journey over here. Granted the guy was in the chick business and his hatch success rate is up in the 80-90% range. Those eggs he had probable didn't have that far of a distant...hubby just told me just don't screw it up...good grief never butthead this much about this before with chickens. This is turning into a soap opera.
Hubby said just don't screw it up? About you hatching eggs? If you do, that is a really good excuse to try again

I got the eggs from Catdance Silkies. Her Silkies are absolutely gorgeous. Karen is wonderful to deal with her name on BYC is kelar. She usually has an ad for eggs in the Buy,Sell, Trade part of BYC.
Is there a way to sort through Buy,Sell, Trade for areas? I would prefer to buy locally, but not sure how to sort hatching eggs by area.
Looks like the PO strikes again. I have taken pictures of every batch of shipped eggs I got except for this one. Did you candle to see what shape the air cells were in?
Will candle when i put in the incubator today and post an update.

Okay i have a ? for y'all.....Do any of you show your birds? And what kind of pedigree record keeping do you all do when it comes to breeding??

I have been severely bitten by the chicken bug!!! It's quite catchy I hear... :D I have 11 (ordered 10 and got 1 bonus) Lavender Ameraucana eggs! They were shipped but all of the air cells are in place and no damage visible to any eggs. The box still looked bran new so I think they had pretty decent handling! They were all packaged very well, in tons of layers of bubble wrap too. So I will be adding them to the bator (Hova-bator, w/egg -turner) tonight sometime. Although I will not be actually turning on my turner for the first week or so!

I read through every post before mine and saw the convo about pointy eggs. I will have to mark my chick when it hatches, because of COURSE it will lol, that is out of my one, very pointed egg. The rest are all very oval, almost round.

And if I'm not allowed to join it is okay, because I am still going to read everything :D hehehe

Oh and I'm from Michigan and I am using the dry incubation method.
