I sent Catdance an email asking if she has eggs available...Geez such pressure LOL I really get this feeling that I'm going to have way too many baby chicks!

LakeBird you won't regret it. I also have hatched CatDance eggs and have more in my incubator right now. I'm sure she would give you a smaller quantity if you asked so you wouldn't feel like you were overwhelmed with chicks. Karen is a wonderful lady and responsible for many of us here to have really quality silkies! If you can go visit she might have a chick or youngster you could score with also.

Not right now. I have my Silkie hens in with a Lavender Ameraucana rooster. There is a lady on BYC that is in Schertz if that is not too far for her to drive to get them. I will reply to the link.

Also, this lady shows and her original stock came from Paradise Farms so it's good stuff. Until my CatDance babies are grown my Silkies are pet quality. I mean I love them....... but I guess it would depend on what s/he is looking for.

Whatever day of the week you set your eggs on is the same day you can expect them to start hatching.(Sometimes earlier. Sometimes later.)For example, you set eggs at 10:00am on Thursday, October 4th so your hatch day (Day 21) is Thursday, October 25th. Another way to look at it is in hours. Thursday, 10/4 at 10am is 0 hours. 10/4 at 10pm is 12 hours and 10am on 10/5 is 24 hours. 24 hours = 1 day or Day 1 of incubation. When you read or hear "lock down or stop turning" on Day 18 it means after the full 24 hours of Day 18 has gone by you stop turning. So that would mean that Day 18 ends on Monday morning 10/22 @ 9:59am. Day 19 starts @ 10:00am Monday and lockdown begins. Day 20 starts @ 10am on Tuesday and Day 21 starts @ 10am on Wednesday and ends on Thursday @ 9:59am. So on Thursday at 9:59am you have had 21 days (each consisting of 24 hours) of full development.

This has certainly not been an ideal experience for this poor clutch of eggs (our first experience)...I wonder if LOVE helps them hatch...if so, all is good

Lockdown tomorrow...we will candle. Temps have not been the most consistent...helping a dear friend going through a tough time with cancer chemotherapy, and I have not been here to monitor as I would wish.

Yep next day is day 1.Not a silly question..NONE ARE .. i asked the same my first hatch. Sort of confusing to know when.

Like a drunk trying not to drink and coming to a bar i come here and see the babies pics the fun....well weakened and just bought some BBS Orp eggs... CRAZY ME! after all my resolve and reasons NOT to buy more eggs this year.. I WILL be sorry later i know.chicks in my tub all winter i guess.
I found my Black part english orp baby is a roo today ..I have no black or blue hens( just Lavenders ) so hey poor guy needs a girl of his own doesnt he......? !!
so Brook or whoever else is setting about Oct `16.... Im in one more time. LAST HATCH!!!! (uhhuh said THAT before)

The naked necks are called Showgirls if they are the silky feathered ones. I don't believe Karen (CatDance) has any of those. Are you wanting some? That same lady that I posted a link for above sells eggs from them if you do.

LakeBird she sold me 9 eggs and sent 10. The shipping charge will be the same because she packages them all the same whether there are 2 or 12. Let us all know what you decide to do. I would love to go to her farm and see everything first hand. If you get that chance grab your kiddos and go. Good luck.
