Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

Id lock today.day 18 not later ....You never know some might try and hatch early. It happens You want the humidity higher. FYI You for sure might get star cracks by day 20...

I think she's peeping around somewhere (ha ha ha). I think she's just had a really disastrous second hatch - not having much joy with the shipped eggs :-(

Ha ha ha ha I completely quoted the wrong quote

My comment was referring to Kel (from our last hatch who was hassling you about getting some more eggs)

Well iam not so sure about these shipped eggs either Just took over 4 days to get here(this is day 5 got them this morning .and 2 look all dark inside .like there is a 19 day baby inthere. One is wonky and a few have some reall y big air cells. They are so late dont think i wil let them rest 24 hours this time before they go in think iwill wait like 6 or 8.Hate to but ...they are getting OLD!!!She told me she collected them 1-3 days before she shipped so they are on day 5-7 at least.!GUUUH.

You should be fine holding them another 24hrs to settle them. my first hatch the oldest eggs were 15-16 days old when they went in. Going by who marked what eggs, the quitter & duds were in the last collection so they were 2-3 days old. the older eggs all hatched out nice fuzzballs.

DebI cracked my bator a very little bit little if the humidity is sky high and open all vents if some arent pipped so the ones that arent wont drowned wit h the high humidity. If they all have good pips open then they are breathing air so its not as important as far as breathing but still dont want them soaked either but worse is shrink fro m too dry..Also if you have one or 2 hatch probably ok to leave them in for a day. They can go a coulpe days without food and water they say... ....but i usally take them out when they are pretty dry maybe about 5-8 hours. to a freall ywarm 99 .5 degree spot no drafts...; so thye dont get chilled.ALSO REALLY IMPORTANT make sure you dip their beak in the water in the brooder right away so thwy know how to drink or they wont and they will die.!!! IMPORTANT Yo gotta take them ouyt fo the bator fast if others are trying to hatch and first raise your humdity to the highest you are limiting your hatch at I do about 76... ...before you open the lid ... at least then quick take them out. .Check humidity and if it doesnt go back up to a good number in a few minutes like 15- 20 then add water .You can even mist some water in as you take the baby out so as not to shrink wrap the others. I wait until i have a few wandering around as they will roll the other eggs around and might kill a baby trying to hatch..
Thinkin im done with incubating till spring this is alot of work might just use my broodys when they want to sit LOL

They were local too. well...3 hours away local Maybe God was telling me to STOP .....Dont waste your money...you have enough chickens!!.(which of course i do)

Wima did it! So far we have 2 chickies, not sure if more are to come. She was sitting on 7 eggs. One fell out of the nest box, but found it within minutes and put it back with Wilma. I've secured a board for now to prevent any chickies taking a header, but wilam can still get out. She hasn't moved. Hopefully we can move the family to their nursery tonight. On the other hand, my other hens are going crazy not being able to see what's going on in the coop. Had to shut it down because the cats were getting curious.

My pipped one hasn't done anything else yet and the others are 'doh' as well - but they they are rockin the boats so at least there's life in there somewhere.
