Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

So far we have 3 out of 7 hatched. 1 BO for sure 1 BO/PR for sure, the third is lighter but not as light as a BO I think. I know that 1 of the BO eggs has not hatched. I original set 3 BO and 4BO/PR eggs. We'll see. They seem very healthy <3

Six out of 14 so far have hatched...bit the bullet and pulled these six out of the bator...they looked too hot, and had been dry many hours. They seem MUCH more comfortable in the pen! Still have pips in the 'bator trying to zip, so still hangin' in there!

Congrats!! They are beautiful...keep comin'!

You should lock down today/tonight at what ever time you set them.

OMG I am so glad I listened and went into lockdown last night. I hope it was soon enough. I am working in my office (where the bator is) and I am hearing chirping! Also I think there is a little tiny pip

I just said I've never heard a chirp in an egg or saw one roll around and I've seen both today.

Yay! So happy for you guys...congrats...

And can I say that this thread moves faster than the silkie thread and that's saying something...

Well I just got home from work and expected to either see some more chicks hatched or the other eggs done and not going to hatch...

Well, I panicked as one egg had some shell off and it had been pipped since Sunday and I was sure it was stuck by now...well it wasn't...it wrapped it in a dish towel run under hot water then chipped some of the large end away with the tweezers and the chick was very much alive but the membrane still had blood through it...luckily I did not tear that...just the shell so I quickly put her back...

I picked up another egg with no pip and held it to my ear and the silly thing was inside tapping away and chirping...so back it went...

I was sure they were done...so I have 6 moved out to the brooder, one just out and wet, one I opened part of the shell but resting and i will let her come out herself and three eggs with chicks still alive in them...

Lesson to learn....DO NOT tamper with your eggs and try to help!!!

Yeah iknow what youmean... Well iam not so sure about these shipped eggs either Just took over 4 days to get here(this is day 5 got them this morning .and 2 look all dark inside .like there is a 19 day baby inthere. One is wonky and a few have some reall y big air cells. They are so late dont think i wil let them rest 24 hours this time before they go in think iwill wait like 6 or 8.Hate to but ...they are getting OLD!!!She told me she collected them 1-3 days before she shipped so they are on day 5-7 at least.!GUUUH.

Do a compromise. Let them sit for 12 hours and then put them in your bator and let them sit another 5-7 days before you start turning them. Those extra 5-7 days have been a blessing to me with shipped eggs. I ordered little teeny Serama eggs from 2 different people and last night when I candled the first batch (day 5 of just sitting in the bator.) 3 were clear and there is movement and veining in all the rest!!!! Run your bator like normal just don't turn them for 5-7 days.
