Setting eggs today, 6-30-12...anyone else want to join in the fun???

Still nothing...I was just in there checking. I am not letting myself get nervous yet....

The book I ordered is called Genetics and Evolution of the Domestic Fowl. It was supposed to be delivered between the 28 of June and 16th of July...it is still not here yet, so DH is trying to track it down.

I am going to go check out the link for the blue barred birds...

Here's my final results:

Andalusians... 9 out of 11 eggs at lockdown hatched. I think its one black, 7 blues, and one splash. (The colored dots are so we can track who is who.)

Muscovies... 3 hatched. 2 more had pipped internally, but didn't make it.

It was hard to know that they came so close, but at the same time I'm thrilled that I hatched any at all. This was my first ever time with shipped eggs. On top of that, muscovies are known for being hard to hatch in an incubator... most die near or at hatching time. So I am very happy with my three healthy duckies!

Smudgie... Every day she is more energetic! She still hasn't tried to eat or drink on her own, but I guess she will when it's time. She also hasn't stopped loosing weight although in the last 24 hours the amount she lost was less than a gram. Still, she's skin and bones and I'd really like to see her GAIN some weight back. Her crop is super speedy today... I am feeding her larger feeedings and the crop is emptying faster than ever. Each day I've been able to get more food in her so I should see weight gain soon!

Here she is with my daughter! (Please excuse the giant tree laying in my lawn. That's the one the storm put on our garage and then it was moved there by a crane! My husband has taken care of the limbs, but the trunk is still on the to do list!)

Hmmm... you had 5 that looked good at lockdown right? I think they're just taking their sweet time just to mess with you! Have you tried glaring at them??? I've tried it, but can't say it helped. But who knows... maybe you have a better glare than I do!

In any event, I'll keep looking in to see how you're doing!

All of mine hatched while we were at the softball tourney. I missed it! 5 out of 8 shipped eggs hatched. 2 bcm and 3 Easter eggers. The 1 EE egg that didn't hatch I can't find? Anyway they are adorable. How well do you think they will be able to get in and out of the coop? It's a 2 foot drop and only 2 of them seem to be able to use the chicken ramp.

Those ducks have to be the cutest thing ever! And I can totally see the love in your daughters face with her little Smudgie. So glad to hear that she is doing better.

I am still waiting for my chicks to pip. I have to say that after not having any movement all day I did decide to take one out and candle it...it was still moving and looks like it is about to pip internally. I was quick about the whole thing, had the egg in and out in under 30 seconds. I won't open it again now until I have fuzzy butts to take out.

Anyone else set on the 29th or 30th? Do you have pips or chicks yet?

I wasn't going to tell on myself, but I did the same thing with my Andalusians!

I figured since there were no pips I'd be OK. I did spray some water in real quick to get the humidity to pop right back up, just to be safe.

I'll bet you'll have chicks by morning! You better post some pics!!!

Here's one more pic I wanted to share!

Congratulations on the hatches!!! Thanks for sharing pictures!!!

Cute ducks indeed! And I am

for a very successful hatch for you too chick mama :)

I have to confess something. I didn't wait for my leghorn to hatch. I hatched her myself

and she is perfect, and was even chosen and sold today.

My turkey eggs are still not here! grrr! They were mailed on Tuesday. Oh I hope they make it tomorrow. This will be my first attempt at hatching turkey and/or shipped eggs. I sure hope all goes well. I'm getting a bit nervous thinking about the heat and the mail time...

Congrats on all the recent hatches
