Setting eggs today (7/20), anyone else?

When I went out to the coop this morning my banty frizzle cochin had already stolen all the eggs from the serama.

I got the imfamous broody screach from her. She just started laying again after co-raising 5 chicks. They are only like 5 weeks old now. The "other" mom is taking care of them - but even she has been letting them do a lot more stuff on their own. In fact they don't sleep with their moms anymore but with my BCM roo. One of the little frizzle silkies was sleeping on his shoulders the other night - too cute.


ETA: Just went downstairs to check the four chicks in the bator - they have multiplied to ten!

So how is everyones hatch going? So far I have had 21 chicks hatch over the last several days and there are still 4 more due later this week. My husband had to cull one chick due to severe deformities and the hens killed one chick that was under my broody. They injured the other one she had so am keeping an eye on that one. The broody is now seperated in the coop with a cage. We gave her some more chicks from the incubator and she just tucked everyone up under her. It was awful cute.

Nothing as of this morning. I won't get home until 8 tonight. Hopefully Mother Nature is doing her thing because I'm dying. It seems like the people using incubators are having their chicks hatch out at 19 and 20 days rather than longer time frames. Does it just take longer when the hen sets on them due to the fluctuations from when she gets off the nest?

Today is day 20 for me .... I have 11 chicks out and in the brooder. I still have 10 that are due 2 days AFTER this first bunch. I started with 35 eggs. I tossed a few on day 8, and then a couple weepy ones on day 16. I have 15 eggs still in the bator (10 batch # 2). A couple from batch # 1 pipped, but it seems that was an awful long time ago. I didn't really candle, but made an attempt to. Mind you, these are just a barn yard mix. I got the eggs at the Farmer's Market, and then another lot from a gal at work (thus, 48 hours later). All they knew about possibilities was, RIR, Australorps, and any guess on the rest. I did not expect this, not today anyway! Yes, I took them out .... 8 of them; then much to my surprise, there were 3 more pipped, zipped and OUT about 2 hours later. So that is where I am for now.

Wating for 6 Mille Fleur eggs and I am setting 2 under my clucky Japanese Banty and 4 in a incubator. OK I am letting my father do both being the retired farmer he is so excited and who am I to deny him a little fun at his age. They (my parents) have it all figured out where to keep the hen in their yard.

I'm moving my eggs (8 EE eggs) from the incubator to the hatcher tonight, and will be on pins and needles until Monday when they're due!

i have my eggs in hatcher they went in yesterday! over the past week i have hatched gunies turkeys and chicks,mix's-then poish woo hoo !

When I moved mine last night, I ended up having to toss one due to a blood ring, but I've got my fingers crossed for the other 7. My biggest problem has been keeping the humidity steady enough for hatching, but I'm hopeful

It is getting close for my hatch...I lock-down tonight before I go to bed, and Tues. is my hatch date. Out of 15 shipped Ebay Delaware eggs, 13 were fertile and viable. All the chickies are doing well so far....Hope everyone's hatch goes well!!! Don't forget to post pics....
