setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

I'm waiting to set up my brooder until I see fuzz. I feel like I'm going to jinx them! Lockdown today at noon and one egg is rockin' & rollin' (an egg too dark to see into of course!). My previous hatches didn't have eggs moving utill day 20...I'm a little worried this chick wants to come out early. I just read the post about how if you candle on day 18 you shouldn't be able to see anything cause the egg should be full of chick. So now I'm worried that the humidity was too high because when I candled yesterday I could still see just into a tiny bit of liquid at the bottom of the eggs....I have worry worts. I could see veins and movement though! Time will tell! And then I'll tell ya'll!

That other post also said something about putting them in something to hold them up & then they won't roll into the others....I haven't heard that this would be bad and two more worry worts just popped up! I stressed about keeping them in the unplugged turner or taking it out so they didn't get their little leggy's caught in the slots. I took it out now I'm stressin' about them rolling all over and into each other!!
AHHHHHhhhhhh

I considered putting mine in a carton to hatch, but I've yet to see a hen stand them up on end to hatch them out... So I decided not to. I wouldn't worry about it. (Ok, yes I would but that's because I'm me!) I mean, I shouldn't worry about it. I have worry wort syndrome too. I'm worrying about EVERYTHING! I don't know how I'll sleep tonight... May we both sleep well with sweet dreams about hatching healthy babies. (And may the dream come true!)

I always have this mental lockdown debate with myself. If I set the eggs at noon on 1/22 do I put them.in lockdown at noon today, noonn tomorrow. Or at midnight tonight and call it good. Thoughts?

I put mine in lockdown at noon today. My calendar said to... Well not the noon part, but the today part.

they should be able to walk just fine with in hours of hatch i wouldnt have the little stickes in there in case they trip and fall

AMEN to that!!! I have to work during the day on Friday & it's just going to KILL me if the action starts without me being there! I have the rest of the weekend off to watch bator TV with my friend's kids!! They're bringing the popcorn!

i love watching the chickies hatch out but i get so nervous when they arent here in a few hours (i know it can take up to 24 but i have never had it take that long after an external pip so yea i get nervous) lol

How fun! :D I will be staying home all day until they hatch. Being my first hatch, I will be flaming if I miss it.

Hhowden, last hatch my first to Pip was the last to hatch. Well over 24 hours but she's doing great now.

Is everyone doing mahonri's annual Easter hatch along? Last year I watched with envy. Now that I have a Bator I wouldnt miss it

Me too!!

All 6 eggs are laid out on a clean rubberized perforated mat at 11:00 today
All eggs within view of the bator windows- check
Warm, wet sponge in- check
bottom troughs filled-check
temperature holding steady- check
sign on top of the incubator reminding us to keep our mitts from opening it- check

The humidity rose from 46% to 63% since lockdown.
Is this high enough? How often are you all adding water to keep your humidity up in a still air?

On pins and needles!!

We had such nice weather that the beach was just gorgeous.

However our temps. even over night have been too warm and before I left I started having allergy issues (don't usually worry until March). My friends that were visiting had fun, hope I wasn't too much of downer with sinus pain and whinneyness.

My schedule, Aaaaauuuuugggggghhhh! I will set it up when I get up so that I can monitor for a few hours before I leave. Anyway I think my one SQ LF Black Orpington might have stalled out!!!

It looks bigger than last time but not as full as the green eggs that of course I can't see much into those. Had good, clear looking air cells. Trying not to be frustrurated going in to lockdown with only 6? eggs, I hope.
I can't remember who had the two flashlights but I was thinking that it might work even better, SO NOT ENCOURAGING EXTRA CANDLING

, for you if they were at a slight angle to each other? Maybe 20-30 degrees? I had better luck with slight angles and rotating on an angle.
Good luck and lots of fuzzy butts

to all and to all a good night!
