Sorry to hear this, CayuseRanch

I would contact the seller of the shipped eggs and let them know of the high rate of infertility, as hopefully they'd offer to replace them.
Perhaps someone more experienced could chime in about the green ring.

Hey guys! I hope everyone's eggs/chicks are doing well. I have been so busy with activities picking back up and all these new animals that I haven't been able to get on much. I'm going to try to read through everyone's posts soon but I have to be up bright and early tomorrow so I can't tonight. :)

All 24 of mine are doing great! Their wing feathers are starting to grow in. They eat ALL the time!! :O They are starting to get more playful. I think they've finally regained their strength after the hatch. I can't wait until the weather warms up and I can take them outside! The lady I'm splitting them with very sadly has to attend a funeral this week so I have them for a bit longer. I'll be putting in my next hatch sometime this week when she makes it over to pick up her chicks and drop off the next batch of eggs.
I also might be getting some more EE chicks from her!! She had another friend hatch some for her in his incubator and she says if a lot of them hatch she'll have plenty to share. :D

Hdowden, how are your eggs? Did they ever hatch?

Cali, don't you do into lockdown soon? Is it lockdown friday or hatch friday? Don't forget to post pics!!

:) I hope you are doing well and I'll update you and get your updates next time I can spare a few minutes. Now I have to go see if I can persuade my pregnant cat to get out from underneath the freezer...

Cayuse, sorry to hear about your eggs, but thank you for sharing your eggtopsy

beside sounding like your shipped eggs were not fertile it sounds like something else may have been going on with your personal eggs. Don't ask what, but something.
Cali, go girl go!

LaynaDon you better learn your cat real quick or you will have babies trained to go under that freezer too

Called home tonight to check on family, chicks, incubator and cows. Nothing new on my last two eggs but my brother is excited to help me candle them again tomorrow and he told me he has named the other four chicks. I'll share those tomorrow night with photos.

I was reading some other posts about hatching becoming addicting and I think I feel a problem coming on! People keep posting Easter hatch alongs and I'm thinking about it and maybe ordering eggs!!!

I float tested all my remaining eggs. They all floated with about 20% of the egg above water, but there was no movement. So last night I eggtopsied every one of them. All 20 of them had fully developed dead chicks.

One of them was shrink-wrapped, but the rest were ok. Some had almost completely absorbed the yolk, but the majority were still in that process, and 2 had their intestines hanging out still. Darn heat spike!!!

Awwww, I'm so sorry, LaGenia.

Did the heat just go up on it's own or did someone 'mess' with it? Will you start another hatch and try again?

How did the one that had a late night pipping party make out?

And the one that was zipping this morning?

Pictures?

that one for some reason didnt zip and died to. the other that was internally piped i pipped the shell for it and ended up having to remove the top half of the shell for it. it is now out and running and chirping just fine. i will get pics sometime after they finish fuzzing up

Come join us in the Easter hatch. Even with my bad hatch I'm doing it! We need more hatchers!

Now, what would I do with 24 more chickens?....assuming they ALL hatch!
th.gif
I read the rules and it said you must set a minimum of 24 eggs.
I'm just hoping these 10 little silkies hatch and I think we'll have enough chickens until we move to a farm-LOL!
