setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

No. It came from one of the lighter eggs. I couldn't tell what breed eggs they were to begin with. A friend gave them to me and she has a lot of laying hens that lay the same color. It's probably a mixed breed anyway. She has an orpington. Orpington eggs are a really light brown aren't they?

The only ones I'm sure about are my own. I have two RIR (full blood) in there and two leghorn RIR mixes in there.

Yes, my Buff Orpington lays light brown eggs with sort of a pink shade. A good name for them would be 'putty' colored!

Any more buddies for your firstborn?

Good description. The egg this one came from was putty colored. Maybe it's buff orp then! there's about a .08% chance of that though. =P

This was so cute! The chick was acting very lonely and calling a lot, then this guy (in the egg) stuck his beak and peeped. The hatched chick ran as fast as he could to the egg, laid his head on it and started making little "singing" sounds. It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen!

He keeps trying to "help" his siblings out! When one pips more at their shell he'll go over and start pecking at it! That's not bad is it? It's really cute.

We just got our second baby!!

Yup, he's sitting on his sibling...
"Hatch faster! I want company! It's boring out here all alone!"

The second one has a dark stripe on his head. And a lot more yolk attached to him than the first.
This pic makes it look like #1 has his wing around #2. :D

awwww...still waiting for signs of life from my eggs

Have you tried shining a flashlight on them to see if they peep? It worked for me last night. It takes awhile of standing there with a flashlight on the egg, but it would be cool if it worked!
