MY last BLRW hatch started off slow too. 9 of the 18 ended up hatching. I just put KinderKorner's eggs in the bator with many ruptured air sacs that looked to stabilize a little after sitting 24 hrs. Only time will tell

I have BLRW eggs coming from Bill Braden next Wed. so I will be doing a split hatch for the first time~ nervous!

Wood Duck will be going to my In laws, they have a private pond on their ranch, and would love some woodies.

This will be their private pond, LOL

As for the Cochins, he sent me BBS, Partridge and Silver Laced, I think I will only keep 1 SL if they hatch, the rest are going to join my Mother inlaws new flock, she had chickens years ago and Cochins, Seramas and RIR's were her favorite, so I got them for her, although I am still on the hunt for gorgeous RIR's.

What color Cochins do you have?

What a neat pond! Lucky Duckies! I had to sell all my Cochins when we left Kenwood years a go. I had Blue, Black, White, Buff and about 5 years ago I had a Silver Laced. I had to give up that batch of chickens because we were gone a lot, so now I'm starting over. My oldest chickens are just over a year old.

This is a group image of the chicks right after I put them in the brooder.

We had 17/24 hatch yesterday. I am hopeful for a couple of more because when I candled I saw chicks and it is only Day 22. Moved the chicks to the brooder. We have quite an array of colors. The Mille Fleur that pipped yesterday hatched. We named her "Millie". We had a yellow feather footed chick hatch from a brown egg! There is at least one Silver Laced Wyandotte and many Welsummers I believe and lots of black chicks that are EE's and possibly Plymouth Rocks. We moved a few numbers on the eggs so it appears as though everyone's egg has hatched. Spirits were very high today. It was hard to keep the kids away from the brooder and focused on their work! We had a good discussion about germs and sexing chickens and after a demonstration on how to hold properly several staff members helped everyone to pet or hold a chick. What a great day!
