I am a newbie, I have a setting mongrel hen on 6 different eggs it is day 18. She is in the nest box which is mounted to the hen house wall about 3.5 ft up from the hen house floor. I have no food or drink in nest box. My other hens are using the nest box to continue to lay. Now what do I do? I have a small area in the outside run I could partition off for the hen and her potential brood. If I keep the chicks and Ma in the partitioned area will chicks eat her food and theirs too?
