Setting question #2

Will the setting hen stay in the nest while the eggs are being layed by others to be hatched or will she leave and come back after another hen has laid an egg

They'll stay right in the nest most of the time. I've seen other hens sitting on top of a broody laying an egg.

The reality is you don't want that to happen. You want to take all eggs away daily until you have the amount you want to have her sit on then put under her all at once. Mark the eggs so you know which they are and take away all new laid eggs to eat. Otherwise you'll have a staggered hatch and that doesn't work with broody hens. They will only stay on the nest for another day or two after the first egg hatches. The rest will be abandoned so your best to mark the eggs put under her and take any new ones away. She'll also tuck them in her wing from other nests to carry back to clutch.
