All I have at home for a liquid antibiotic is cefdinir- not sure how much I'd even giveYou might get her started on Amoxicillin or Penicillin. Can you give injections? Its super easy to do. PenG is penicillin you can get at some feed stores, especially those that sell Horse equipment. The PenG will help with any lung infections. Amoxicillin orally is much better if you can get it. Human Amoxicillin is great to use if you have any.
Why do you suppose the rooster seems physically unaffected when the girls were affected so quickly? Are they built different? He is a beautiful bird- but I definitely would've rather kept a hen. My profile picture is one I took of him when he was almost 4 months old.
He probably has 5 pounds on the girls I'd say.Likely a size issue. Canary dies before a parrot etc. He a big guy?

Thank you. I plan to post again when we get more chicks in the spring so we can have our coop just right for next year. The way 2018 has started- I think I'll start my new year on the first day of spring!I just read through this entire thread and there's nothing I can say that hasn't been said already, and probably better. Your tragedy will save countless other birds and owners from going through this. In addition, what stood out to me is your willingness to pay close attention to what suggestions people were offering and your regular updates and postings. As others have said, too often there will be a post in the emergency forum and then we never hear from the OP again...no updates, no additional information... or the OP ends up becoming defensive, which doesn't help anyone.
I am proud of you, proud of the members of this web site who tried so hard to help, and glad that @Ruralhideaway was able to come up with the cause. I just wish the outcome hadn't been so hard on all of you.
