Heat lamps are awesome, If you are on Harbor Freight flier list, you can get a free head lamp with any other purchase. (they offer these about 3 x / year.
EDIT @lazy gardener EDIT!! I know you didn't mean HEAT lamp!!

We got ReVolt Headlamps (Black Diamond). Kinda expensive but the batteries are rechargeable and there are dimming features as well as a red light feature.

Oh, BRUCE!!! Thanks for saving my butt!!! HEAD Lamps are awesome. And the red light feature is even more awesome. Rechargable is even more awesome than that, and dimmable. Well... you simply have the best of the best of the best!!!

Like dimmable, or multiple brightness setting, does not like colored, have green on new lamp and I can't see well enough for exams and bright setting is good for exams but not for keeping things dim while grabbing birds.....my old one is still working but switch is glitchy, I'll use it until it absolutely dies.

I get the free lamps. When it ceases to function, I grab a new freebie out of the drawer. I find RED is helpful when I'm re'directing naughty pullets from their wanna-be perch in the nest box to the perches where the big girls spend the night. It's just enough light for them to see for perching, but not enough light for them to decide it's snack time. Unfortunately, the freebies don't have the red. I have one lamp with red. I find that the switches wear out quickly.

Look how tall Lane is compared to the girls.

He's huge! Sure looks like he has fully recovered from his ordeal and is comfortable with his new flock.
He really is- his head is at my kneecap and I'm 5ft 6in without my boots on. He seems to really like them. One weird thing (weird to me anyway-maybe not them) is that I've opened the door to the run every morning and they don't seem interested in going outside at all. It might be the noise of construction on the house, or them being new? They're already pretty calm when I go in though- no more crazy flapping- they just move out of my way.
