Wow thank you so very much for your help! I will be referencing this for some time. It is all great info. As of right now there is no sign of mites but I am wondering if it is safe to add DE to deep litter pine shavings?

Yes you can shake DE everywhere but make sure you don't breathe it in- don't breathe in sand too if you ever use that on the floor of your coop. Use a mask with both as they are VERY bad for the lungs.
