I've been researching for hours and cannot find the answer for this. I have a flock of 20, various ages from 8mos - 6 years old.
Now I have 4 hens and a rooster quarantined because they suddenly started with:
- wheezing/gurgling when walking or exerting themselves.
- sneezing and scratching head as if to clear the clogging
- The 2 oldest have runny fluid from the nose and really labored breathing. They will breath with their mouth open sometimes.
- They occasionally gasp for air.
- At rest, their whole body moves with their breathing
- I've noticed when the go to eat sometimes, a clear fluid pours from their mouth.
- No odors from any secretions.
I started treating conservatively with:
- garlic in their water,
- supplementing a little yogurt and unsweetened applesauce.
- Spraying VetRx in their room
- Spraying Oxine AH in their room
- But tonight, I gave in and gave the 2 oldest girls a shot of LA-200.
If it is CRD, ILT or Infective bronchitis, I know antibiotics may not do a thing, but I'm lost as to what treatment I should do to get them thru this distressed period. Culling my entire flock is not an option for me. They've all been exposed to each other.
