My favorite chicken Brownie has bumble foot.... Really badly.. We would rather not have to do surgery on her, and we don't have he money to take a chicken to the vet... is there any way we can cure her bumble feet? I've heard of people soaking the chicken's feet in Tricide Neo for 7 minutes, twice a day, until it it cured...Does that work? I do have Espom Salt on hand also, if that is needed for anything.

Help is VERY much appreciated! :(

Yes, I used TricideNeo last year and it worked well, with no recurrence. I soaked the foot for a few minutes a day for about a week, and did no other treatment. Some people seem to prefer surgery because it is a one shot deal - just do the surgery, dress the wound, and it is done. But to me that is messy, and traumatic and painful for the chicken. Soaking for a few minutes a day is so easy and non-traumatic, that I'd rather do it for a month than perform surgery on an animal without anesthesia. But it only took a week or so to cure mine. In comparison to pics I have seen, my hen had a medium sized abscess. If yours is huge, it will probably take longer than a week. You will know how long by watching her. I waited until there was no sign of limp, then soaked for a couple more days for good measure.

Thanks janine! I would pass out if I tried surgery, even just reading about it makes me dizzy. I'll look around and see if I can get some Tricide Neo. :)

I tried it on my hen after trying the surgery ( I just cannot see well enough up close) all it would do for mine is hold it where it was it never cleared it up. It would be worth a try but mine was too far advanced. It also cost me 40 something by the time I paid shipping. Now, I check their feet frequently so I can catch it quicker.
