Morning! We just had severe storms in North Texas and have no power. This of course means I can’t provide heat for my chicks. Most are three and four weeks old but my youngest two are only one week - how long can they go without a heat source? Any ideas of what to do in the meantime?

They are inside the house in a brooder, temp inside around 70 at the moment. High winds could prolong the outage throughout the day and of course, I’m concerned about the babies.

Thank you for the idea! My older chicks seem fine, they have quite a few feathers but my youngest are still all fluff.
If you do decide to do the snuggle box try and get dust extracted straw. I believe it can be found for creatures such as hampsters.

Similar question. Mine are just a week old and in my garage. About 70 degrees. I know they are ok being shipped, but how long can will they be ok without their brooder plate?
