My mom has a female porcelain bantum that has been having extreme raspy/wet breathing today is the 3rd day of treating with tylin 50 injections at 3 times per day. They first noticed the breathing after the temp change and she had gotten wet from the rain. Yesterday she had a drastic improvement but by this morning she was back to being dumpy again. My question is what could be the problem and is there a way to treat it with something other then tylin that may have a better result? We lose her.

Wowie, that's going to be a difficult one to address without actually seeing the hen but I can make a list of things I'D check if I were in your situation. But I will preface this by saying if there is a livestock vet in your area and this bird is invaluable to you, I'd visit them ASAP. Depending on what area you live in I can understand that might not be an option, luckily for me in NC there are tons of livestock vets always at the ready. Breathing issues are never worth playing around with.

The bird could have respiratory issues and the wetness could have just been coincidental. Check their feed for DE, if there is DE in the feed then switch feed and see if there is improvements.

If you are using a bedding that is high in dust content then remove that bedding and switch to something like wood chips that are low in dust and see if there are improvements.

And it is possible that the bird has a pneumonia, this is life threatening and can only be accurately diagnosed by a vet in person.

Good luck, I know anytime a pet gets mysteriously sick it can be stressful to both you AND the pet. I wish you both the best.
