tonight 2 of my 4 week old chicks got loose and our male turkey killed one and badly maimed another. It is alive, I am holding it and giving it sugar water, but I think it's eyes are gone. Part of its' skull is ripped off. Should I try to save it? Is it more humane to put it down. It might have 1 eye left, it is hard to tell. It is wiggling a bit and drinks from the eye dropper.

Tough call, if the skull is open it will most likely get an infection. If you want to save it, you would need antibiotics at the very least. As much as I love animals, it might have a hard time surviving. This sucks... sorry!!!

I have a chicken with significantly impaired vision. It is my favourite chicken!!! Takes some extra time and wide bowls, but manageable.

You would most likely be more concerned with other damage and the risk of infection. Try to get as much food/liquid into the animal and add an antibiotic as soon as you can get it. Keep separated, of course, from the rest, and hope for the best! If it does survive, it might make a remarkable recovery!

We have it the house under a heat lamp. Its heart feels strong, and it drinks from the dropper. Where do I get an antibiotic for a chicken? It looks like the head is a strip of skin off, however the eyes are either gone, or mangled. I will hope it hangs on until morning, and maybe take it to the vet..
Thanks for your help

Antibiotics at the local feed store or the vet. Either way you can't get it till the morning.
