Hello,
My dog got into a wild turkey nest and grabbed a chick. The bird was found in my window well chirping and distressed.
It has an injury on the back of the head. The feathers were ripped off in a nickel sized chump exposing the skin and flesh which looked raw. There was no blood or active bleeding but some grass was stuck there that I removed.
Then, I covered the area with Polysporin and put the turkey chick in a box. The chick doesn't appear to have any broken bones or wings, seems energetic, and its eyes look alert.
Therefore I believe it can be saved. I called the animal control but as it is the weekend there is limited assistance.
See attached photo and please advise what to do.
