Learn today that Sevin dust is used for chicken also. My Brother told me use it once in awhile to manage any mites. He uses it for his game chickens. WoW!!! Learning. Buy it at walmart..lowes...

Does anyone use sevin dust??? I am not such a big fan using pesticide. I like to use none if possible...I do not use any on my crops due to honeybees I have. i lost three out of 4 this year. My brother told me to use it once in awhile.

Any suggestions or comments??

I don't use it at all because it is too dry for mites and lice where I live but I would if I started having problems with them. Once you get mites, it's work to get rid of them. Keep your bedding dry and clean, keep tabs on their feathers, strip your coop when you do have mites and treat the larvae but I don't think I'd do a preventative treatment of it.

We had a HORRIBLE grain mite problem last week and we used a mixture of DE and sieven dust, not sure which one worked but we got rid of them! And they were every where! We have a well house where our well tank is and we keep the chicken feed in, when we walked in it looked very dusty in there, but when we looked closer the "dust" was crawling around!! So I dusted everything with sieven dust and mixed food grade DE in the feed! I also mixed a little sieven dust in their coop in the sand.
