Sewandgrow's Second "Almost" Annual Friends of a Feather Poultry Party Turlock, CA May 18, 2014

I will bring a Caprise Salad, melon, and a desert. We are considering home-made icecream - bringing the crank and all.

Sounds like fun to me. Is it a hand crank or will you need electricity? We have electricity available out there if you need it.
I would love to come & bring my 4-1/2 y-o son who is also into chickens.
I'd like to bring a mild green chile & cheese rice dish as well as a deviled egg dish for the tasting.
Thanks!
Absolutely...My grandson if 4-1/2 & so much fun. Your rice sounds yummy & I am going to try to do some deviled eggs for Julie's tasting idea too.

It is an old fashioned crank variety. It's a huge 2 gallon one. That is why I'm just considering it. I wonder if people will think its an imposition to help crank their ice cream? My kids always enjoy helping but DH has to finish it. That takes muscle to turn 2 gallons of stiff ice cream! I have to get the tub out and make sure its all functioning. It really is fun though and if I use a custard base, it will qualify as an egg dish

We are going to have to get some eggs from our friends here for deviled eggs because mine will still be too young.

Should be me and my wife not sure if the kids will want to come.

We had one when I was a kid & we would sit & take turns cranking. I think it is an excellent idea.

And my 12 yr old. She would love to make deviled eggs.
And my 12 year old grand daughter LOVES to EAT them. She is a deviled egg eating fool.....LOL. She likes my secret ingredient....LOL

Oh please don't feel like you have to do that. Jules was just saying since we all have eggs (you don't yet) how fun it would be to compare deviled egg recipes. Those of us with lots of chickens have eggs galore right now.....LOL
It's like all recipes everyone does it a little differently. I had sweet ones recently & was surprised.......mine are quite tart & tangy. It is all what you get used to I think.
If you want to do that it's fine but please don't feel like you should.

This sounds like tons of fun. I hope that i can make it. I am just a pee wee chicken man (about 35 adult hens). But last year I built my own incubator and hatch out 40 to 50 chicks a month. So i would love to come and glean some advice and info from the experts. And maybe get some contacts to buy some hatching eggs when i have room in my incubator.

I am in church until 12. so cant get to turlock until about 1. Is that too late?

Also. I have hatching eggs from my flock. RIR and sex links (RIR X SLW) and (RIR X Delaware).

And EE eggs.

If anyone is interested i would love to do an egg swap. I will try to post pics of the older birds i hatched out from these crosses.

Also I have been trying to find a BLR wyandotte rooster if anyone that is coming has one they wouldn"t mind selling.

I guess the time limit has passed to edit those first posts. We are all reading new posts as they come up, so we can just do that. Sometime next week I will list the birds and eggs that I will have available for presale. I'll probably have some eggs in the raffle and for trade.

Your time will be fine. Last time we did this I had people here til dark....LOL There is a Rare & Heritage Breed breeder's ranch in Hickman that isn't too far. I know they have BLRW hatching eggs but I don't know about grown out birds. Maybe another family coming to the party has a rooster available. My Winton "chicken Lovin" friend works that day & can't come. She has to work. She lives out in the country there.

I too will have hatching eggs but will need to know who wants what to save them for them. My breeds are listed in my profile & on my signature.
