This is ‘Morag’ We incubated in summer a mix of French black and blue copper Marans eggs. We got one black cockerel. He had to go. One blue female who had seizures and died and this one who until 10 days ago lauded beautiful big brown eggs.
But she went through a period of seeming not herself and came out of it crowing (not much not loud bit definite crows) so I started googling and found it’s possible for chickens to change sex?
one theory is temperature glitches in incubation can cause a female to lay eggs then on maturation a Male part comes forward. Other option an ovary damage?
sooo astounded by all of this! my vet knows very little about chickens
