I’m planning to try a sex link cross for the next year, I want to cross a BCM rooster with barred hybrid hen. If I have understood this should work. I don’t know the genotype of the hens but the phenotype is clearly barred. This should give me a black sex linked cross.
Now I also have some green layers hybrid that may be barred, I’m not sure. They may come from a cross with Cream Legbar that is a barred breed if I have good understood.
My answer is are those hens barred? The cross is a black sexlink, will it work for sexing one day old chicks?

Here are the pictures

3 is not barred, but the others are. When crossed with a BCM they will produce barred males and solid females.
The females produced by the legbar looking one will be gold birchen (the males being barred gold birchen) except for the ones produced by the simple barred hen, which will produce blacks (the males being barred.)
Hen number 4 will produce gold birchen females (the males will be barred golden birchen) essentially producing what is also a gold sexlink. The columbian gene may also increase gold extension on these chicks.

Thanks Amber for the fast reply.
I have 5 hens that looks like the number two and number three. For me the number two is almost the same as the number three. What are you looking for knowing that the number three is not barred?

:idunno Maybe it's just really hard to see, but I just don't see any barring, that's all.

Yes, by looking more carefully to the picture I also can’t see barred feather, I have to look closely to the hen to see if she is barred.
if there are just a small amount of barred feather it would be possible obtain a sex linked cross or it’s needed a more marked barred?
