Is it possible for a sex link chick with the markings of a female to be a rooster? I have one that I am certain is, but don't even know if it's possible.

Here is Nugget
I think he's a boy for a few reasons, he has the most developed comb, he's feathering the slowest out of all the chicks and he's a cocky little thing. He's always flying at the other chicks and doing that wing thing. Don't get me wrong, he has to be my favorite but I really really think she's a he.

And here is Nuggets sister Monkey Moon (I have young kids if you can't tell from their names. lol)

And here are the rest of the chicks. All were bought at the same time

I think you are on the right track.

I completely understand about the name thing, my boys wanted to name our daughter "Larry Boy" or "Cheeseburger" when she was born. We went with Abigail.

I've always been under the impression that a "sex link" is sexed! I guess there can be exceptions????

I have 3 RIR chicks that look like your sex link chick. Could you have a RIR roo?

I had a hen that I would have sworn was a roo. It was fiesty, it would come at me just like a roo when I reached in the brooder, and was slow to develop. It turned out to be the sweetest hen I ever had.

Just goes to show that like humans, our birds have their own personalities and characteristics. They are not just a bunch of dumb birds.

A couple years ago we got a batch of chicks and got 2 gold sex linked chicks. Well one of them "turned into" the meanest rooster we have had (still hanging around to, we just can't kill him

). Granted we did pick out the lightest and darkest in the batch. I think yours is a girl though, just feathering out slower.
